BERNARD BERRIAN TEAM TAKE

The 28 year old wide receiver from the Vikings is a guy I will will take a close look at next year in my drafts. I view him as a major value play as his fantasy points have climbed every single year of his career. If he gets some consistent QB play, he could be a guy that rounds out your starting line up as WR 3.

Love him with Gus Frerotte, not so much with Tarvaris Jackson at the helm. He's very "feast or famine" and you'll never be able to completely rely upon him as a permanent WR3. Still, his speed and scoring potential make him an attractive bye week fill-in for most leagues.

To quote just about any professional athlete that gives an interview these days, "Berrian is what he is".  In the past three seasons he's never deviated more than 23 rec, 126 yds or 1 TD from one season the the next.  His averages reflect that of a steady (albeit unspectacular) #3 WR.  At 6'1" and 185 lbs. I don't think he has it in him to bring in more than 80 rec. or 1,000 yds.  It'll be interesting to see how the Vikings address their QB situation in the off season.  Safe to assume their starting QB in 2009 will be learning a new system though so that keeps expectations under wraps.

Traditional burner and one of the league’s best play makers. Low reception totals and monster Yards Per Catch are the story with him. Unpredictable week-to-week because of two factors: low reception yield and inconsistency at quarterback. Berrian failed to exceed 4 receptions in the final 9 games of 2008 but could be a super-sleeper in 2009 if the Vikings resolve their issues at signal-caller.

A legitimate down field threat, arguably one of the biggest play receivers available as evidenced by his staggering 20.1 yd per catch average. At still only 28, he is underrated with some upside if Minnesota can find consistency at the QB position.

Big play Berrian, still boom or bust for your fantasy team and he was a bust in fantasy playoffs last year. His value takes big hit in PPR leagues. With Viking question marks about QB yet again this year, don't see alot changing.

(09' Proj: 54 rec, 1020 yds, 8 touchdowns)   ~Jon Rascon

Despite having 23 less receptions that he did in 2007 Berrian end up with 13 more yards and two more TD’s despite catching the ball from the likes of Gus Frerotte and Tarvaris Jackson. Look for him to be near his last three seasons combined average.
