Oakland’s leading receiver has improved every year in league. He has big play ability at the position as evidenced by his 16 catches of over 20 yds, leading all tight ends. Forget about his low touchdown total as that can be solely blamed on the fact that Oakland can't get into the red zone let alone the endzone! He had more yards receiving than Gates and only four less catches. Consider Miller a #1 TE with room to grow as he is the top option in Oakland’s passing attack.

Miller continued his maturation as a NFL tight end in his second season, nabbing 56 catches and totaling 778 yards, up from his rookie numbers of 44 catches and 444 yards in 2007. In the process, Miller also solidified himself at the end of the second tier of tight ends, but like Greg Olsen and John Carlson, he’s also still young enough to make a charge towards the first tier. With a young quarterback in JaMarcus Russell, Miller should be able to continue his progression and double his previous high in touchdowns.

Favorite target of young quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Former second-round pick improved on a promising rookie campaign despite playing in one of the least appealing offensive environments. Despite finishing in the top-10 in receptions (56) and yards (778) at his position, Miller finished just outside the top-10 in FFP, because he caught only a single touchdown.

Miller caught just one touchdown in 2008, which disappointed his many Fantasy owners who sees the talent to be a No. 1 Fantasy TE, Zach is stuck in a bad situation in Oakland. Consider him a No. 2 option in 2009 but is a good late round selection in case the situation there improves.

One wonders how good Miller's stats would look on a team with a real passing game. Still, this super-talented tight end might just succeed despite the general ineptitude of JaMarcus Russell. His receiving and yardage amounts both jumped this past year and, though he'll always struggle to score touchdowns in this sorry offense, there's no reason he shouldn't continue to be productive this season.

I was encouraged with how Miller closed out the year in terms of where he projects this year. In other articles, Fantasy Football Trader already put you on the fact that QB JaMarcus Russell quietly warmed up in December last year. That was reflected in the fact that Mr. Miller had three of his four 5+ reception games in weeks 13-15. One more year of maturation with a prospectively healthy Darren McFadden has me a bit more bullish on Oakland than this time last year.
