PEYTON MANNING TEAM TAKE

Last year, with his offensive line a mess and a running game that was putrid, the numbers that stand out to me about Manning is that he still only had 12 interceptions and was sacked a mere 14 times. With any kind of improvement on his line and/or running game, Manning should be back in the conversation as the best fantasy quarterback in all the land.

It’s probably safe to say that the days of a guaranteed top-3 finish from Manning are over, but as long as he’s throwing the ball 500 times per season, he’ll give every other fantasy quarterback a run for his money. Coming off another MVP season, it isn’t Manning who has slowed; rather, it is his supporting cast. In the interest of developing a more consistent postseason offense, the Colts have abandoned much of the attack that made them the most exciting unit in the NFL, opting instead for a controlled, balanced attack. The introduction of wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez as a full-time starter will help the Colts’ offense, but it won’t make them the big-play juggernaut that they once were. As for Manning, expect the same 4000 yards and change and 30 touchdowns, give or take a few.

Peyton Manning is as close to a sure thing as you’ll ever find in fantasy football.  Even in a year when he started poorly due to a slow recovery from injury, he still managed to win the MVP award.  At 33, Manning is still in his prime and, assuming he’s healthy, will have another fine season this year.

Low first, early second round pick that's as bankable as any QB in football.

Lowest touchdown total since 2002 but still won the NFL MVP. I blame the slight drop in production on poor seasons from Addai and Harrison. Expect another solid season but fantasy wise he is slipping ever so slightly.

Even at 33 and with Marvin Harrison no longer on board how can you not consider PeyPey still near the top of the quarterback chain? He’s averaged 4,239 yards and 30 touchdowns in his 11 year career. He may not approach those numbers but I’m betting he’s not too far off either.

Tony Dungy has retired. Marvin Harrison was released. And you know what? (Insert WWE’s The Rock’s voice here) IT DOESN’T MATTER. Peyton is Peyton. Plus, the O-line will be improved this season. Puh-leeze.
