What a beast this guy turned out to be. Last year I thought he would be a top ten fantasy running back, not top three. He is widely predicted to be the number two overall pick in fantasy drafts behind Adrian Peterson. While the Falcons have a love for running the ball, you can assume his carries will drop somewhat as Matt Ryan gains more confidence.

Exceeded all expectations in 2008, and letdown in 2009 seems all but certain. And yet I can’t move him down my redraft rankings. I love me running backs that you know will get the rock 20+ times each game out and Turner is one of the few running backs where you can safely say that, injuries notwithstanding, he’ll get his. I don’t expect his stay at the top to last much longer than this year, as those running backs don’t have a long shelf life, but I think he has one more year of 350+ carries, which is enough to guarantee him a top 4-5 ranking.

What a great fit this guy was with Atlanta! His stats were absolutely eye-popping as only Peterson had more yards. Was very consistent with over 106 yards per game and a workhorse leading the league in attempts per game as well. Expect more of the same and expect him to go second overall in many drafts!

He more than lived up to the expectations that were generated when Atlanta signed him as a free agent last year. However, in the course of his breakout season, he carried the ball 376 times, the most of any running back in the league last year. It remains to be seen if such an extensive workload has a negative effect on him this season (I’m betting it does.)

I drafted Turner on everyone of my teams last year that I could get him and he made me look like a fricking genius. There is an argument that he should be the number 1 pick overall. He is consistent, Ryan will improve making teams respect the pass more.

Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to your number one overall pick for 2009.

Turner finally got his shot to be a starter last season and went from arguably the best back up in the league to arguably the best starter in the league. It will be tough to match last season’s monster numbers but I still expect the Falcons to give their workhorse plenty of carries and Turner will again make the most of them.

Proved to be a flat out stud. Two minor concerns, that the O-line outplayed themselves last year and those 376 carries are the tippy-top end of what you want your #1 to take in a single season. Atlanta has Jerious Norwood to sprinkle in as well and if I were a Turner owner I would pray they call Norwood's number a bit more in 2009. When those are your only concerns, it's giddy up time.
