New coach, very old running back, only offensive weapon drops a ton of passes each year, second receiver could be going to jail for a long time and there’s a full-blown quarterback competition come Training Camp. Uh, no thank you.

I like Quinn and feel he will beat out Anderson this summer. The problem is the Browns O is getting worse with the losses of Winslow, Stallworth possibly out, and Jamal Lewis another year older this team has some serious holes.

New Browns coach Eric Mangini says Quinn is in an open competition with Derek Anderson to be the Browns starting quarterback in 2009 and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of trading one of them. Quinn is the early favorite but even if he is the starter I think he’s a year away from having any real fantasy value.

Started three games last season with mixed results. He is entering his first full season as a starter and you can put this workaholic on your sleeper list! Remember he has lost Winslow from his arsenal of weapons but I expect Quinn to earn some fantasy starts by mid-season.

Yikes! You have a new, unproven coach (who wants to trade you), a running back that can’t beat my grandma in a 40 yard dash even if she spotted him 10 yards, and a GM that trades away your top tight end (and maybe wide receiver too)??? No wonder Brady Quinn won’t even draft Brady Quinn this season. Unless, of course, he gets traded to Denver.

Eric Mangini has declared the starting quarterback position to be an open competition in Cleveland. It's virtually impossible for us to tell if Brady Quinn will be starting in week one, but he still has many of his rookie kinks to work out. In two years he's only started three games and completed 49.5 percent of his passes. Consider him nothing more than a fantasy backup.

Quinn’s season ended prematurely due to a broken finger which seems to have healed quite nicely. However, what may still be damaged is the confidence that the new coaching staff has in him (if the many internet rumors are to be believed.) For now, we can speculate that he’ll start in Cleveland but one shouldn’t expect miracles from a newbie quarterback who has thrown all of 97 professional passes.

Staring all the way up that big, bad learning curve all professional quarterbacks must climb. But the more I look at Brady Quinn's situation here in the offseason, it's not completely devoid of opportunity. And I'm no particular fan. In our own Chris Graley's (albeit subjective, but still a cumulative scorecard) analysis of 2008 O-line performance, the raw numbers slotted the Browns 12th. One or two key upgrades via the draft and a RB under the age of 74 and this ground game isn't far from holding it's own. Quinn could wind up being a sneaky spot play as a #2 QB this year. Training Camp will begin telling us the story.
