Second-year player who shocked the fantasy world by finishing twelfth among quarterbacks in FFP per game ahead of Brett Favre, Chad Pennington, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning and others. Totaled 20 or more FP in seven games. The Chiefs’ major rebuilding effort will likely result in the jettison of a number of major offensive veterans, most notably tight end Tony Gonzalez, which will significantly harm the chance of Thigpen improving on his impressive season.

He emerged from nowhere and became an overnight sensation, throwing for 2,608 yards and 18 touchdowns. However, since the Chiefs only won two games last season anyway, the big question is whether or not Thigpen will get another chance to run the offense or have to give way to either a free agent or injured starter Brodie Croyle. The smart money is on Thigpen remaining in the driver's seat.

I was happy to see K.C. stick with the sophomore QB out of Coastal Carolina last season. He improve as the year progressed and his 18 TD's were good for #7 in the AFC, one ahead of Ben Roethlisberger. He will continue to develop chemistry with Gonzalez and Bowe as his main targets in the Chiefs attack.

A top ten quarterback over the past 6 weeks of the season, but I think Thigpen will come back down to earth next year, as the Chiefs essentially start from scratch. Let someone else draft Thigpen as their insurance policy. I’d bet a safer option is out there for you when it’s time for you to get your No. 2 quarterback, especially if Kansas City drafts a quarterback in the first round.

There will be no "wiggy for thiggy" next year. Thigpen was awful under center, while excellent in the spread. Guess which offensive schemes new coach Todd Haley prefers? He should keep the job the whole season though.

Every once in awhile, a player comes along where there's an abyss that develops between fantasy and reality. As mentioned above, Thigpen was a borderline fantastic fantasy QB at times in 2008. But when we put our NFL Head Coach hat on, we also see that he averaged 1.67 interceptions per start and spewed a QB rating of 76.0 amidst a plethora of poor decisions. So all is not well in terms of Thigpen the "NFL" quarterback. Somebody in your league is going to prorate his '08 stats in 11 starts through 16 games and draft him wherever that slots him. Mistake.
