PIERRE THOMAS TEAM TAKE

Thomas will be the Rodney Dangerfield of the 2009 draft. He will not get the respect so willfully doled out to Reggie Bush and honestly, there is no good reason for that. He makes for a very intriguing #3 fantasy back for your team as he's essentially taking over the Deuce McAllister role in this offense.

___

Deuce McAllister is done, Reggie Bush is not an every down back and Thomas has 10 career
touchdowns on only 181 carries, along with his outstanding 4.8 ypc average. He may not be
2009’s Michael Turner but he could easily be this year’s Thomas Jones.

('09 Proj: 280 carries, 1,560 total yds, 14 touchdowns. ~Robb Perkins

Pierre Thomas and underrated go together like Michael Phelps and gold medals – or weed, take
your pick. He gained 625 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
Thomas was also a productive receiver with 31 catches and three more scores. He virtually
led teams to championships with the post-bye performances he turned in. That said, I'm
concerned about what the Saints do with McAllister and a healthy Bush. He should go in the
top six rounds and much higher by teams that like to gamble.   ~Dave Fosdick

Emerged late in 2008 as the tough runner the Saints lacked since Deuce McAllister went down
in early 2007. Put up big numbers from Week 11-16 (711 total yards, 9 touchdowns). Due to
his toughness between the tackles, Thomas will likely enter 2009 as New Orleans’ starting
tailback over Reggie Bush, though Bush will get his share of “lightning duty” as well.

Thomas went "Ryan Grant circa 2007" on all of us last year after the week nine bye. He had six
carries in week 10 and never looked back, registering 6 straight games of a minimum double-
digit attempts. A near prototypical build at 5'11" and 215 lbs, the second year prospect was
handed the early down duty and delivered in spades. Among a supporting cast on offense that
has few peers in the NFL, I don't think it was a fluke. I feel comfortable taking the numbers in
Pierre's four late season starts and prorating them to a full-season.

___

This is the type of player that always goes overlooked in fantasy drafts but don’t be the guy
that passes him up. Sean Payton loves this kid, he runs hard and he is in a dynamic offense
that will always put points up. Look at this stat: Chris Johnson- 10 TDs, Steve Slaton- 10 TDs,
Pierre Thomas- 12 TDs. Still not impressed? Thomas did it in half the carries. Will be a solid #2
back with big potential.

Fantasy Projection: (206 carries, 940 yds, 12 touchdowns)

___

A definite candidate for "Cinderella Story of the Year" in the NFL.  Thomas took full advantage
of injuries to Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister to carve out an important role for himself in the
impressive Saints offense, amassing 625 yards on the ground and 12 total touchdowns.
He'll keep his role and be considered a good RB2/Flex player next season.
