Has established himself as the top wide receiver in San Diego. He is a great big play guy and teamed with an emerging fantasy stud in Rivers, this could be a match made in heaven! Among wideouts with over 50 catches, he had the highest yards per catch average in the league with 18.6! Last year was his breakout but don't mistake that for being his ceiling.

After three years of sleeper talk Jackson finally had a nice breakout season with 1000+ yards and seven touchdowns. With LaDainian Tomlinson possibly past his prime I look for the Chargers to throw more this season and for VJ to again better last season’s career highs.

There is a lot to like about Vincent Jackson besides the fact I used to play softball with him and graduated from the same school. He has a great QB throwing to him, he plays in a division that doesn't believe in defending the forward pass and he's improved every season in the league. Keep an eye on him to see if the commish suspends him a game or two for off field problems.

A sneaky good number three wide receiver this year as I have a feeling more recognized “names” will be drafted ahead of Jackson, still on the upswing of his career. The Chargers would like to run the ball more this year, but they will pass enough to give Jackson more than enough targets to produce solid numbers again this year.

Vincent Jackson brings everything to the table except for receptions, but his career average of 17.2 yards per catch is insane. He definitely needs to make the most out of every opportunity as he competes with Antonio Gates and Chris Chambers for targets. Jackson should be a decent No. 2 wide receiver with lots of ups and downs for fantasy owners.

Jackson broke through last year and eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving. Don’t expect that again in 2009. Our boy Vinny is looking at missing the first 4 games due to suspension. It seems he has a problem with drinking and driving. As in, he hasn't figured out yet that you don’t do it because it’s dangerous and illegal.

He broke out last season as San Diego’s WR1 and looked great doing it. He should be able to build in his numbers (59 catches, 1,098 yards and seven touchdowns) as he continues his development. One facet of Jackson you have to love is his propensity for scoring; as he now has 16 touchdowns on only 130 career receptions.

As previously mentioned, the suspension will tell the story. Frankly, I'm a big believer in drafting players at value who are facing a 2-4 game suspension to start the year. Most fantasy owners (not to mention sites dispensing bad advice) will simply take a guy that's facing a 4-game suspension, shave his numbers by 25% and slot his value there. That's a big miscalculation. Though it'll give an approximation of his end of season stats, in the case of Jackson it doesn't account for the fact that you paid the price of a #3 for a guy that will put up #2 WR stats the remaining 12 games. If Jackson is suspended two games, I dare say you still take him at his 16-game value. If he's slated to miss four, I'll be targeting both Jackson and my #4 WR in back to back rounds after 25 WR's are off the board. You would be wise to do the same.
