TRENT EDWARDS TEAM TAKE

Suddenly fantasy owners are intrigued with the prospects of Mr. Edwards with the arrival of Terrell Owens. He started thirteen times and only had one game where he had more than one touchdown pass. His eleven touchdowns and ten interceptions were very mediocre. He will be worth taking a flier on late because of the impressive Evans/Owens combo. Be careful not to overrate, I think he is still a #3 QB.

A popular sleeper pick given the Bills’ signing of wide receiver Terrell Owens. Edwards is now surrounded with top talent at the skill positions. Be careful not to overpay for him and don’t expect him to be a No. 1 quarterback.

With the arrival of Terrell Owens, you would think Edwards value would skyrocket. As Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend!” I believe that while there should be an increase in big plays for the Bills, the main benefactor in the Owens signing won’t be Edwards, but the running backs. A solid No. 2 quarterback in 2009.

Edwards progressed a bit in his second year on the job, despite not having an offense that is geared to his strengths. With Terrell Owens around, Edwards will be able to connect on shorter routes and won’t have to throw the ball downfield as much, something that should improve his numbers. He should have a great first half, but things could get messy in a hurry if Owens performs his usual antics. A good draft and trade candidate if he starts off hot.

I don't pretend to know how all of this is going to play out but what I do know is that Mr. Edwards is on one seriously short leash.  The excuses are bone dry.  By the next regular season snap he takes, Edwards will have three full offseasons of film study, a pair of uber-dangerous receivers and run support that a full 60% of NFL franchises would gladly take.  If it ain't been learnt by now...it won't be!  I'll freely admit he has as good of a chance at tossing seven touchdowns in six games started as the numbers below. But for what it's worth, I think the light bulb goes on.
