MATT FORTE TEAM TAKE

Faded badly over last few weeks of the season, still wondering if he can be full time feature back. Might be better off in a running back timeshare as he doesn’t break long gainers very often. Because of receiving skills, might just be a slightly better version of Ryan Grant. Nothing wrong with that, but just know that is a No. 2 running back description and not a true #1.

Lock first round pick in almost every redraft. Forte was the man for the Bears in his rookie season, getting over 20 carries in 11 of 16 games. He also caught 63 passes and had +1,700 yards from scrimmage. What more can you ask from your first round draft pick? I look for very similar numbers from this do everything back.

Considering that not much has changed in Chi-town over the offseason, you can reasonably expect Forte to be the focus of the offense once again this year. That’s both a good and bad news proposition as, even though he’ll rack up yardage and touchdowns again, the odds of him escaping unscathed from two straight years of that sort of workload seem slim. By all means, take him with your first pick if you can, but if Forte were my #1, on would focus on RB depth sooner rather than later.

One of the stellar 2008 rookie running back class. Forte looks like a certain first-rounder now that Chicago seems to have abandoned trying to find a tough inside runner to pair with him. He gets an extra boost in PPR leagues.

What a horse. Forte was fourth in the league with 316 attempts which is great new for fantasy owners nowadays - as true solo backfields are hard to find. With over 1,700 all purpose yards and a dozen touchdowns, this young man could be destined for greatness. A true dynasty cornerstone and fantasy #1 back.

Yeah...I guess he is okay.  Those six words sum up my thoughts on Forte very well.  One would think I could come up with better accolades for a guy that toted the rock a studly 316 times for 1,238 yds and 8 scores...as a freaking rookie!  Maybe it's my deep-seeded roots playing in dynasty leages that heavily reward big play bonus', but for my money - give me Jones-Drew any day of the week.  Check out this stat; in 12 of 16 games last year his big gainer for the day was 14 yards or less.  Whoop-dee-freakin-ding-dong.  I'm open to being wrong about this cat over in the forums and feel free to explain where I'm wrong but there's not a thing about this kid (from his tallish 6-2 frame, continuing to his 3.9 yards per carry and ending with a nauseating one touchdown per 39.5 carries) that doesn't scream mediocrity to me.
