2009 AARON RODGERS TAKE

Rodgers silenced all doubters in year one of the post-Favre era, by passing for over 4,000 yards and tossing 28 touchdowns. Dare I say it, Rodgers fits the Packers offense better than Favre did, and there is no reason why he shouldn’t be able to put up comparable numbers for the foreseeable future. Short and sweet here. Rodgers is a very safe pick for 2009 and beyond.

He’s the real deal, folks, and he’s only going to get better.  More importantly, the pieces around him are maturing along with him and he already has strong chemistry with Greg Jennings.  If you want him, you’ll have to draft him early as he’ll be in that first tier of quarterbacks that are taken.

The Packers may have taken a step back as a team last year, but it wasn’t because of Rodgers who put up over 4000 yards and 28 touchdowns. With a crew of talented receivers at his disposal, there is no reason to think he won’t have similar numbers again this season.

Had a great first year replacing Brett Favre. He ranked fourth in passing yards (4,038) and fourth in touchdown passes (28), both eclipsing the numbers put up by NFL MVP Peyton Manning. Provided great value for owners last season but won’t fly under the radar next season. Draft as a #1 Fantasy QB.

Offense wasn't the problem for the Pack last season; defense was.  Plus, Rodgers will be further removed from the Brett Favre saga, especially now that Favre, seemingly, has hung it up.

Finished second among quarterbacks in straight fantasy points, scored 20 or more points in nine games, and only scored less than 15 FP three times. Absolutely has the weapons for a repeat performance. It’s hard to imagine that Rodgers has any room to improve, but entering just his second season as a starter, the sky is the limit. He’s easily a top-3 option at the position.

It's still sticks in my craw that I whiffed so badly on this guy last year.  But as former president Bush would say, "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me, fool me twice...ya' see, ya' can't fool me a second time".  The reason it sucks is because Rodgers is exactly what I look for in a fantasy QB. Which would be, mid-round average draft position that will at least hold his own against his peers, allowing me to stockpile RB/WR.  As has already been mentioned, he's surrounded by a young, steady supporting cast.  You won't get sick value in '09 for him, but he'll see to it you get what you pay for.
